About Us – Gallup Express

Gallup Express is a private, nonprofit corporation founded to provide transit service in the City of Gallup. Our mission is to provide safe, consistent, economical transportation for the citizens of the Gallup area and surrounding communities in a customer-friendly, cost-efficient manner.

The fares we charge do not cover our costs. We receive funding from the State of New Mexico, City of Gallup, McKinley County, and sponsors. If you would like to become a sponsor, please contact us at 505-722-0777 or director@gallupexpress.com.

Our History

2005	Began as a dial-a-ride service under the Na’Nizhoozhi Center
2007	Began operation of 3 routes
2013	Moved temporarily to the City of Gallup
2014	Became part of The Community Pantry
2018	Founded Gallup Rural Transit, dba Gallup Express Named New Mexico Rural Transit System of the Year
2019	Provided a record high of 98,809 rides
2020-2021	As an essential service, operated during COVID providing 45,846 rides

Service and Coordination Study

Gallup Express along with A:Shiwi Transit and Navajo Transit are participating in a study to improve service coordination, reliability, safety, and convenient, including the location for and feasibility of a transit transfer center.
